Winston Salem, N.C. – North Greenville brought home third-place this week at the Conference Carolinas Championships, scoring 55 – points led by seven total top – five finishes.
Distance runners led the way for NGU over the two day event led by
Riley Shope. Shope turned in a pair of second place finishes. Shope finished second in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:34 and also finished second in the 5,000 meter with a time of 18:23.
Ellie Timmons also scored and finished second overall in the mile run. She crossed the finish line in 5:11 which also set a new school record.
Also in the 3,000 meter was
Ellie Timmons who finished fifth with a time of 10:42 and
Cecily Anderton who was 7
th overall with a time of 10:49. Anderton also finished 7
th in the 5,000 meter with a time of 18:56.
Paris Alsup finished 8
th in the 5K with a time of 19:01.
The Trailblazers also saw two other school records fall in two different events. In the 60 – meter prelims. Robinson qualified for the final with a school record 7.6 seconds. She finished 4
th overall in the finals with a 7.62.
Kathleen Bonbroski also etched her name in the record books in the 200 – meter sprint. Bonbrsoki set a record in the prelims with a time of 24.76 to finished 4
th. She qualified for the finals and finished 7
th overall with a time of 25.09. Her best finish of the day came in the 400 – meter where she finished 3
rd with a time of 56.64.
North Greenville also scored well in the team events including the 4,000 meter distance medley and the 4x400 relay. The team of
Cecily Anderton,
Shachiah Paul,
Ellie Timmons, and
Riley Nicholson finished third in the medley with a time of 12:50.41. Dombroski,
Ariana Lemieux,
Destiny James, and Nicholson finished 6
th overall in the 4x400 with a time of 4:07.
