Winston-Salem, NC- On Saturday, the North Greenville Trailblazers traveled up to Winston-Salem to kick off their indoor track and field season at the Mondo Collegiate Invite at the acclaimed JDL Fast Track. Every year the Mondo Collegiate Invite hosts teams of all levels from all over the country, including Division I, II, III, and NAIA powerhouses. Being the first indoor track meet of the season, the Trailblazers put on a performance today and stood out among the competition.

Beginning with the short sprints, sophomore
Shachiah Paul started her season with a personal best in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.61 seconds and an indoor personal best in the 200-meter dash of 29.96 seconds.Â

The women's distance squad had an incredible day. First, in the 3,000-meter run sophomore
Cecily Anderton broke her own school record by six seconds, running a time of 10:46. Fellow sophomore
Riley Shope also dipped under the old school record running a time of 10:47. Junior
Christiana Gidney ran a massive personal best of 11:12, and sophomore
Addison Martin was close behind with a personal best of 11:19. Anderton, Shope, and Gidney also all ran personal bests in the 800-meter run with times of 2:32, 2:33, and 2:42 respectively. In the women's mile run, junior
Julia Van Dine ran a personal best time of 5:32 in her first track race in a year and a half.Â

For the men's distance senior
Matthew Heath opened his final indoor track season with personal best times in the 3,000-meter run at 9:24 and in the mile run at 4:56.

For the field events, sophomore
Taylor Campbell came in third in the weight throw and threw a personal best distance of 14.22 meters. Graduate student
Bailey Crowe also threw a personal best distance in the weight throw in 12.86 meters.Â
Both the men's and women's teams did an outstanding job today. Next, the Trailblazers will travel to Columbia, SC for the Carolina Challenge at the University of South Carolina on Friday January 31
