Myrtle Beach, SC- Myrtle Beach, SC- This past weekend, the Trailblazers went to the beach to compete against the best in the Carolinas at the Conference Carolinas Outdoor Track and Field Championship. The women recorded the highest team finish in program history, coming away with a second-place finish, with 145 total points.
Senior
Hannah Hill had the performance of the meet, tallying a total of 45 points to her name- 26 for the field events and 19.5 for the track events. For her track events, in the 100-meter hurdles, Hill set a personal best and posted a school record pf 14.80 seconds. In the 400-meter dash, she ran 55.30 seconds, another school record and personal best. In the 200-meter dash, she ran 23.84 seconds, her third personal best and school record. For her field events, Hill threw a personal best in the shot put and a personal best and school record in the javelin of 41.31 meters. In the long jump, she set a personal best and school record, jumping 5.92 meters. Lastly, for the heptathlon, she set a personal best and school record of 5290 points. That's a total of six school records during the whole meet!
In the 10,000-meter run, sophomore
Cecily Anderton set a personal best and ran a school record time of 38:13. Fellow sophomore
Riley Shope crossed the line in 39:10, also a personal best. Junior
Paris Alsup broke the 40-minute barrier for the first time, running a personal best of 39:52. In the 800-meter run, junior Michaela Lanier ran a personal best of 2:31. In the 400-meter hurdles, senior
Katlyn Rose ran closed out her collegiate career with a personal best time of 1:09.44. Freshman
Lauren Baker threw a personal best in the javelin of 37.62 meters. Junior
Bre'Asia Robinson ran a personal best in the 100-meter dash, with a time of 11.84 seconds.
Overall, the women had 23 All-Conference performances. Hill finished first in the heptathlon, the javelin, and the 400-meter dash, as well as third in the long jump. Anderton finished second in the 10,000-meter run and the 5,000-meter run, as well as third in the 1500-meter run. Shope finished first in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, as well as fourth in the 10,000-meter run and the 5,000-meter run. Alsup finished fifth in the 5,000-meter run and sixth in the 10,000-meter run. Rebekah Haddad finished eighth in the 10,000-meter run. Junior
Zoie Justice finished fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and eighth in the 800-meter run. Senior
Emma Bright finished sixth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Freshman
Ellie Timmons finished second in the 1500-meter run and the 800-meter run. Junior
Riley Nicholson finished fifth in the 1500-meter run and seventh in the 800-meter run. The 4 x 100-meter relay with Hill, Robinson, sophomore
Shachiah Paul, and freshman Destiny James finished sixth. The 4 x 400-meter relay made up of James, Justice, Hill, and junior
Julia Van Dine finished sixth.
A second-place finish was a sweet way to end the 2025 season for the Trailblazers' women's track and field team. Next up, Hill will be heading to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championship on May 22 – 24 at Colorado State University Pueblo in Pueblo, Colorado.
