Hill, Trailblazers Steal the Show at the Charlotte 49er Classic

Charlotte, NC- This past weekend the Trailblazers capped off their spring break by taking a trip up to the University of North Carolina Charlotte for the Charlotte 49er Classic. Every event featured some of the top Division I, II, and III talent from the southeastern region. 
 
Senior Hannah Hill headlined this weekend with some performances that were nothing short of stellar. In the field events of the heptathlon, she set a personal best of 9.27 meters in the shot put, a personal best and a school record of 39.68 meters in the javelin, and a personal best of 5.60 meters in the long jump. In the running events of the heptathlon, Hill ran a personal best and school record of 24.48 seconds in the 200-meter dash, and a personal best of 2:25 in the 800-meter run. With these performances, Hill hit the Division II provisional mark. But she wasn't finished there. The next day in the open 200-meter dash, Hill set another personal best and broke her own school record, running a time of 23.88 seconds, allowing her to hit the Division II again. Hill is currently ranked #1 in the nation in the heptathlon and #4 in the nation in the 200-meter dash for all of Division II. 

In the field events, Taylor Campbell continued his school-record breaking campaign, throwing another school record and a personal best in the hammer throw of 50.10 meters. Bailey Crowe also had a successful day in the hammer throw, throwing a personal best of 42.33 meters. In the men's javelin, freshmen Tucker Upton and Ty Stover threw personal bests of 33.84 meters and 31.77 meters, respectively. In the women's javelin, freshman Lauren Baker threw a personal best of 37.39 meters. Freshman AJ Nash threw personal bests in both the shot put and the discus, at 13.10 meters and 39.37 meters, respectively. For the jumps, freshman Justin Pauling jumped a personal best of 12.92 meters in the triple jump. 

Moving onto the track, in the 400-meter hurdles, senior Katlyn Rose ran a personal best of 1:11. 
 
In the 800-meter run, senior Matthew Heath took a step away from his typical long-distance events and ran a 10-second personal best time of 2:08.

In the 1500-meter run, sophomore Dominique Cox ran a personal best time of 4:18.

In the 3,000-meter steeplechase, junior Zoie Justice slid under the conference standard and ran a massive personal best, crossing the line in 12:51.

In the women's 5,000-meter run, sophomore Cecily Anderton ran a huge personal best and broke her own school record, crossing the line at 18:01. Not far behind, fellow sophomore Riley Shope finished in 18:24, a personal best for her. Junior Rebekah Haddad finished in 19:18, adding a tally to the 5k personal bests. In the men's 5,000-meter run, Heath ran another personal best, finishing in 15:52.

Next, the Trailblazers will stay local in Anderson, SC for the Electric City Invitational at Anderson University on April 4th and 5th
