Winston-Salem, NC- This past Sunday and Monday, the North Greenville Trailblazers took a trip up to JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina where they wrapped up their indoor track season at the Conference Carolinas Indoor Track and Field Championships. The women's team did phenomenal, finishing third overall out of 13 teams, tying their highest finish in program history at the meet, having two champions, and 15 All-Conference honors.
Starting with the Sunday events,
Riley Nicholson,
Katlyn Rose,
Julia Van Dine, and
Ellie Timmons won the distance medley relay and earned All-Conference honors. For the sprint preliminaries,
Bre'Asia Robinson ran a personal best of 7.72 in the 60-meter dash, earning her a spot in Monday's final. In the longest event of the meet, the 5,000-meter run,
Cecily Anderton broke her own school record, running a time of 18:13 to finish second and earn All-Conference honors.
Riley Shope, who ran a time of 18:52, and
Paris Alsup, who ran a time of 18:57, also took All-Conference honors with their fifth and seventh place finishes, respectively.
Christiana Gidney ran a personal best, crossing the line in 19:25.
The Monday events kicked off with the mile run, which
Ellie Timmons won in with a personal best time of 5:13. Timmons also broke her own previous school record and earned All-Conference honors.
Riley Nicholson also earned All-Conference honors, finishing in eighth place with a time of 5:32.
Brelyn Birch ran a personal best time of 6:14. For the sprint finals,
Hannah Hill finished fourth and earned All-Conference honors in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.20. She also finished fourth again and earned All-Conference honors in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.09.
Bre'Asia Robinson finished fifth in the 60-meter dash and earned All-Conference honors with a time of 7.76.
In the women's 800-meter run,
Julia Van Dine finished sixth and earned All-Conference honors with a time of 2:27.
Zoie Justice ran a collegiate personal best of 2:29 and finished eighth, also earning All-Conference honors.
In the women's 3,000-meter run,
Cecily Anderton ran her second second-place finish of the meet, once again earning All-Conference honors with a time of 10:37. Right behind her was
Riley Shope who finished third with a time of 10:42, also earning All-Conference honors. In her third event of the meet,
Ellie Timmons finished fourth with a time of 10:47, becoming an All-Conference honoree for the third time.
Paris Alsup rounded out the All-Conference honorees, finishing eighth with a personal best time of 10:58. Not far behind,
Rebekah Haddad ran a personal best time of 11:06.
The Trailblazers will take a brief break from competition before the outdoor track and field season begins. Next, they will travel down to Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina for the John Hunter Classic on March 7
th and 8
th.
