Charleston, S.C.—The North Greenville men’s team stepped out of division two play for a Tuesday night contest against NCAA Division I-AA Charleston Southern but came up short against the Buccaneers 94-65.
Offensively the Crusaders were led by Paul Harrison and Jimmy Ellis who both scored 11 points. Jamaal Pryor lead North Greenville with 4 rebounds. Charleston Southern opened the game on a 6-2 run during the first two minutes of the game and lead by as many as 26 in the first 20 minutes of play. The Buccaneers led NGU 49-26 at halftime.
Charleston Southern led by as many as 35 points in the game. Despite the score, the Crusaders played better in the second as they were only outscored 45-39 in the second period. The Bucs outscored NGU 49-26 in the first period of play.
“We ran into a hungry CSU team poised to finish in the top half of the Big South Conference,” said head coach Chad Lister, “but I think this experience will help us down the stretch.” With the loss the Crusaders fall to 12-9 on the season with a road game against Limestone College on Tuesday night. The Crusaders will return home for games on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.
