Mike Taylor is a two - time head coach for North Greenville football, helping resurrect the program in 1987. Taylor compiled a record of 32 - 3 from 1988 to 1991 in his first stint with the Mounties including two undefeated seasons. NGC ranked inside the top - 20 in the junior college ranks from 1988 to 1991 and was the 1989 National Coach of the Year for the National Junior College Athletic Association. Taylor returned to North Greenville in 2004 to coach the Crusaders and retired after the 2009 season. in 2005 Taylor led North Greenville to its first ever victory in a football game on campus, opening Younts Stadium against UVA Wise. During the 2006 season Taylor led NGU to a 10 - 2 record and won the team's first National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association Victory Bowl, defeating Malone College 56 - 28.Â
