McDonald is a three - time National Junior College Athletic Association Region X Coach of the Year for softball and a three - time Western Carolinas Junior College Coach of the Year. Coach of the Year accolades also came from the Mid - South Conference for softball. She is a two - time Region X Softball Champion and a WCJC Champion. McDonald also led the team to a Mid - South Conference Championship. In her time as head coach, McDonald compiled a record of 155 - 113 and eventually assumed the role of Athletic Director, leading NGC to the NCAA Division II ranks. In 2016, NGU athletics honored McDonald's contributions by dedicating it's new softball field in her name.
