Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers suffered their first conference loss of the season in heartbreaking fashion to the Converse Valkyries as a buzzer-beating three pointer put the Valkyries ahead with a final score of 72-20 this evening at Hayes Gymnasium. NGU and Converse both put together a strong first half offensively, with the Trailblazers shooting and impressive .600 from the field and led 40-37 at halftime. North Greenville started off the second half on a run, increasing their lead to as much as nine before the Valkyries took over the momentum, taking a six point lead. The Trailblazers then took over the momentum late to reclaim the lead with less than a minute remaining. Up by a point, a foul put NGU at the free throw line. The first free throw was missed, allowing Converse to possess the ball with just seconds remaining. A deep three-pointer was made by the Valkyries as the buzzer went off in front of a stunned Hayes Gymnasium. North Greenville finished with a field goal percentage of .467 and led the game in points in the paint, second chance points, and fast break points.
