Josh Linder's Dominant Defense Leads NGU to Win Over Emmanuel

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers put together a dominating performance this afternoon at Hayes Gymnasium, defeating the Lions of Emmanuel University with a final score of 78-64. NGU held a narrow two point lead at halftime, but pulled away in the second half to ultimately win by double digits. The win is North Greenville's first against Emmanuel since January 2nd, 2020 and the first win against the Lions at Hayes Gymnasium since January 31st, 2018. Both teams posted strong numbers in the first half, with finishing with half with field goal percentages above .410 with NGU leading the half with a .482 percentage. The Trailblazers would save their best performance for the second half, where they would shoot .609 from the field to finish the afternoon with a .540 field goal percentage. With 4:44 remaining in the half, the score was tied at 60-60. However, from there NGU would pull away, scoring ten straight points and ultimately ending with a fourteen point win. Both teams finished with 34 points in the paint while posting nearly similar numbers in points off turnovers, second chance points, fast break points, and bench points.

Josh Linder put together a dominant day on defense, posting 7 blocks in addition to a steal. He also scored six points and provided 2 assists and a steal. Savion Brown recorded 22 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Logan Parker finished with 16 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and a block, and a steal.

North Greenville will return to action on Saturday, December 13th against the Trojans of the University of Mount Olive at Hayes Gymnasium.
