Box Score 2 Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders have taken sole possession of 1st place in the Conference Carolinas Southwest Division with a sweep of the Erskine Flying Fleet. Game one proved to be a close battle, with NGU hanging on for a 6-3 win while game two was close until the 6th inning, where the Crusaders would run away with it and eventually end the game early due to the run rule for a final score of 15-7.
Karley Green and
Georgia Lieb were the winning pitchers while
Sydney Clark earned a save, her first of the season. The big inning in game one for the Crusaders came in the 2nd inning, where NGU would score three runs including an RBI triple by
Emily Blackwell. Up by a run, North Greenville added two additional runs to the board in the 5th including an RBI single by
Ali Hartin.
Karley Green would go on to pitch a complete game, allowing just three runs and securing the win for NGU. Game two did not include a single scoreless inning by the Crusaders. Up by one run going into the bottom of the 6th, North Greenville would not only run away with the game but end it early to the run rule as seven runs would score in the inning.
Georgia Lieb pitching 5.0 innings for the win while
Sydney Clark pitched the top of the 6th for the save.
Emily Blackwell put together an impressive afternoon, finishing with 6 hits including a triple and a double as well as 5 runs scored, 3 RBIs, and 2 stolen bases.
Ali Hartin posted 5 hits, 6 RBIs, a run scored, and a stolen base.
Karley Green pitched a complete 7.0 innings, allowing just 3 hits on 8 hits and 6 walks with 4 strikeouts.
North Greenville will return to action on Friday, April 5th against the King Tornado at Jan McDonald Field.
