Trailblazers Eliminated by Young Harris in Defensive Struggle

Spartanburg, S.C. – North Greenville's 2026 season concluded on Friday afternoon after a 3 – 2 loss to Young Harris in the second round of the Conference Carolinas tournament. 

For the second game in a row the Traiblazers were locked in a defensive battle. Starter Haylee Whitesides kept the Young Harris Offense at bay for much of the game on Friday holding the Lions to just three runs on five hits. Young Harris scored a single run in each of the first and third innings to take a 2 – 0 lead over NGU. 

North Greenville waited until a little later down the lineto get on the board. The Trailblazers evened the game up at 2 – 2 in the fifth inning Whitesides picked up an RBI with a grounder to third while Ansley Fowler delivered an RBI single to even it up. 

The lead for NGU lasted less than an inning as the Mountain Lions responded quickly, scoring the go – ahead run in the bottom of the frame. North Greenville had opportunities to even the score once again but stranded two runners in the final two innings. In all NGU stranded eight runners on Friday. 

North Greenville finished with eight hits by eight different players. Whitesides and Fowler led the bunch going 1 – 4 with an RBI each. Shelby Duncan and Bailey Gossett each scored a run. 

North Greenville finishes 2026 as the Northwest Division Champions. They finish 31 – 21 overall and 20 – 8 in Conference Carolinas play.
