Box Score 2 Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders bounced back after falling to the Trojans of the University of Mount Olive last night by sweeping today's doubleheader with final scores of 5-1 and 5-3. NGU took an early lead in game one, leading 2-0 after an RBI ground-rule double by
David Lewis and an RBI single by
Pat Monteith. Mount Olive would get on the board in the 3rd, but
Brett Blomquist would increase the lead back to two with an RBI single. Then in the 5th, a two-run home run by Kalen Hall would score two insurance runs for North Greenville. Pitching would handle the 6th and 7th innings as
Reece Fields threw 6.0 innings while
Dawson Taylor pitched the 7th inning to finish things out.
Reece Fields took the win, his 6th of the season. Game two began with two scoreless innings. However, NGU would get on the board with a run in the 3rd and two runs in the 4th including a home run by
Jake Sears. UMO would get on the board with two runs in the 5th, but North Greenville would get those runs back in the 7th to take a 5-2 lead. Mount Olive put up a fight in the 9th as a sacrifice fly would cut the deficit to two, but
Nate Roof would strike out the final batter to secure the win and the save.
Nate Lamb was the winning pitcher, his first win of the season.
Kaleb Hall posted 3 hits including a home run and a double. He finished with 3 RBIs and a run scored.
Reece Fields notched his 6th win of the season. He pitched 6.0 innings and allowed just 1 run on 6 hits and 3 walks while striking out 5.
Pat Monteith recorded 3 hits including a home run.
The Crusaders will return to action on Wednesday, March 13th against the Railsplitters of Lincoln Memorial University at Ray & Bea Dillard Field.
