The North Greenville Crusaders began the 2023 women's volleyball season with a 3-0 victory over the Virginia State Trojans earlier this morning in Ettrick, Virginia. NGU led in all major categories except blocks, including dominating in service aces 9-3. Set one resulted in the Crusaders posting eight kills and four errors while the Trojans really struggled in the set with just five kills and fourteen errors as NGU would easily take the set 25-10. Both teams would improve in set two, including thirteen kills and just two errors for the Crusaders as they would go on to win set two 25-17. North Greenville would put together a similar performance in game three with thirteen kills and three errors. NGU would once again take the set easily with a score of 25-15 to complete the sweep.
Abigail Durham stood out throughout the match as she was the only player to post double-digit kills, finishing with a total of twelve while also providing three block assists.
Anna Fiddelke began her collegiate career with five kills and three block assists.
North Greenville will return to action tomorrow, starting with a nonconference matchup against the Hawks of Chowan University in Ettrick, Virginia.
