North Greenville Wraps Up Tournament with Sweeps Over Chowan and Limestone

North Greenville wrapped up the weekend tournament with 3-0 sweeps over the Hawks of Chowan University and the Saints of Limestone University earlier today in Ettrick, Virginia. Match one of the day resulted in a win over the Hawks. NGU led the way with a .253 attack percentage while holding CU to .040 for the match. Chowan was able to make the first set a competitive one, resulting in a narrow 25-22 set win for NGU. However, the final two sets of the match were decided early on as North Greenville dominated set two 25-11 and set three 25-15. Although the Crusaders trailed in digs, they led all other major categories including kills, aces, blocks, and assists. NGU then faced the Saints of Limestone University, coming away with another 3-0 victory. The Crusaders once again led the way in hitting percentage, finishing at .221 while the Saints struggled overall with a .087 percentage. NGU dominated in most categories, including service aces where North Greenville led the way 9-2. Facing an early 6-2 deficit, the Crusaders would take things over in set one, going on to win the set 25-18. Set two proved to be the most competitive of the match, but after a run by the Saints, North Greenville would take over from there and go on to take the set 25-21. An 11-2 run to begin set three put things on ice early as NGU would go on to win the final set 25-9.

Abigail Durham posted a dominant second match and finished the day with a total of 22 kills. She also posted eight digs and three assists. Samantha Ball was also solid for the day, finishing with 15 kills as well as 29 digs. Ashlyn Conner led in assists with a total of 41 for the day.

NGU will return to action on Friday, September 8th against the Jaguars of Augusta University in Aiken, South Carolina.
