Box Score North Greenville began a busy week with a 10-6 victory over the Indians of Catawba College this evening in Salisbury, North Carolina. NGU put twelve hits on the board while not committing a single error. The Crusaders began things on a positive note with a three run top of the first including a two run home run by
David Lewis.
Cory Bivins and
Marek Chlup would add three runs in the top of the second with home runs to lead 6-0. Catawba would get on the board in the bottom of the inning with two runs of their own, but NGU would get one of the runs back in the third with a solo shot by
Jalen Vasquez. The home runs would continue in the sixth as
Pat Monteith would drive in two with one to left field. The Indians would score their third run of the game in the sixth, but after a scoreless seventh John Michael Faile would post an RBI double, scoring NGU's final run. NGU ran into some trouble in the bottom of the ninth when Catawba was able to score three runs and get the tying run to the plate. However, after a mound visit
Michael Rodriguez would settle in, striking out the final two batters to secure the win.
Reece Fields took the win, pitching the first five innings.
