Box Score After falling behind by three runs in the 1st inning, NGU claimed the lead in the 2nd but would be unable to hang on to it, ultimately falling to the 22nd ranked Lenoir-Rhyne Bears with a final score of 8-6 in Hickory, North Carolina. North Greenville finished thre night with five hits and an error. The two teams combined for a total of seven home runs with NGU hitting three of them. North Greenville responded from an early deficit with four runs in the top of the 2nd including home runs by
Jordan Holladay and
Cory Bivins to claim the lead. LR tied things up with a run in the bottom of the 2nd before taking the lead with two runs in the 4th then adding to that lead with a run in the 5th.
Cory Bivins would get North Greenville back within one run by hitting a two-run home run in the 8th. However, Lenoir-Rhyne would bring in an insurance run in the bottom of the inning with a solo shot. In the 9th, NGU would get two runners on base by way of a hit by pitch and a walk but would be unable to cut into the deficit, coming up short in Hickory.
Nathan Barolet was charged with the loss.
