Cox & Worley Impress in First Indoor Action of 22-23

Clemson – North Greenville marked the start of indoor track season by participating in the Clemson Opener on Friday afternoon inside the Norman Track facility.

Tiara Cox headlined the women's side, setting a new school record while also recording a pair of personal bests. She etched her name in the record books with a 7.88 second finish in the 60 – meter which was also one of her personal records.

Damon Worley also had a solid first showing with a pair of personal records of his own for the men. Worley's pole vault of 3.75 meters is a new high in the event for him. He also set a new best in the 200 – meter with a time of 13.71. He finished fifth in the event.

Highlights

Tiara Cox also had a personal record in the 200 – meter finishing with a time of 26.92 seconds. She finished 18^th in the event.
Jada Wilson's time of 8.44 is a new personal best for her in the 60 – meter.
The women's 4x400 relay team of Hannah Hill, Carleigh Vaughn, Melanie Irizarry, and Tiara Cox won the heat with a time of 4:02.
Terrique Webb finished fourth in the high jump with a height of 1.95 Meters. He also ran an impressive 22.34 seconds in the 200 – meter.
Royal Foster set new personal bests in the long and triple jumps with jumps of 6.35 – meters and 13.71 meters and finished fifth (Triple Jump).
Gray McIntyre Set a personal best in the 600 – meter with a time of 1:21.
Jacobie Sims impressed in his first collegiate action, finishing in 8.58 seconds in the 60 – meter hurdle finals.

"Today was an awesome season opener for our team. Anytime you have individuals set new PBs in the first meet of the season (especially this early), there is a lot to be excited about.

On the women's side I thought Tiara Cox really stood out. She had to miss all of last outdoor season due to an injury, but I think it's safe to say that she's back to 100%. She opened up with PBs in both the 60 and 200. Her 60 meter time today is actually a new school record. She also ran an impressive anchor leg for our women's 4x400 relay. Hannah Hill and Carleigh Vaughn also ran well today, performing well in the 300 and 4x400 relay. Jada Wilson also opened up her senior season with a PB in the 60.

For the men, Terrique Webb had an impressive collegiate debut. He finished 4^th overall in the high jump and then went on to run a really impressive 200. Our vaulters (Damon Worley and Bryce Hamby) both had solid season openers, not only in the vault, but also in the 200. Royal opened up the season with two new indoor PBs in the horizontal jumps. Gray ran extremely well in the 600 and anchored our men's 4x400 relay with an impressive split of 49.3 seconds. Jacobie Sims also had an impressive collegiate debut making the finals in the 60 hurdles and running the second fastest leg of our men's 4x400 relay.

I am really proud of how our team performed today. It gives me a lot of excitement about where we are at and where we can be later on in the season. I look forward to seeing how the rest of this indoor season plays out."
