The Last Meeting: North Greenville vs. The Citadel

The first and only meeting between NGU and Citadel in 2016 was a memorable one. A game which was originally scheduled to be played in Charleston saw a change of venue when approaching Hurricane Matthew forced the Bulldogs to evacuate the city. The Bulldogs won the match-up in front of a record crowd at Younts Stadium, but not before some fireworks early in the game.

North Greenville trailed by just seven points at half as Javon Brown set a school receiving record in the process. Brown caught a 99-yard touchdown pass from Will Hunter to put NGU up 7-0 early. Brown caught another pass from Hunter later in the game from 90-yards out.

The Division-I Citadel scored 17-unanswered points in the second half to secure the win over NGU. The Crusaders fell 38-14. The Citadel visited North Greenville once again in 2018, but this time the Bulldogs were just visiting. Once again forced to evacuate Charleston due to an approaching hurricane, the Bulldogs stayed in a local camp facility and used Younts Stadium and the Sam and Angie Kelly Strength and Conditioning Center.
