NGU head baseball coach Landon Powell has been named to the 2021 class of the Apex High School Hall of Fame. Landon attended Apex and graduated in 2000 before having a standout playing career at the University of South Carolina and playing several years for the Oakland Athletics in Major League Baseball. 

Landon is one of five former athletes in the 2021 class of the Apex High School Hall of Fame, which began in 2016. In his junior year at Apex, the Cougars won the 2000 State 4A Championship. That season, Landon hit 16 home runs and was named All-State and All-American.
