Big First Half Leads to Convincing Win Over Erskine

Tigerville, SC - NGU improved its conference record to 2-1 with a 17-6 win over the Erskine Flying Fleet on a beautiful day at Pepsi Stadium. The Crusaders pulled away early to take a 12-5 lead at the half and in the second half score five unanswered goals to end the game. Rachel Kellogg led with 4 goals.

Just over a minute into the opening half, Jillian Chiesa put NGU on the board with an assist by Aly Estes. Less than a minute later, Rachel Kellogg scored her first of the game to put the Crusaders up 2-0. Several minutes later, North Greenville would put together an impressive stretch with three goals in less than a minute, two of which were scored by Maegan Easler and a other by Kellogg. Erskine would respond with its first goal of the game to officially get on the board. After a second goal by the Flying Fleet, Brenis Napoli would score a goal with an assist by Ashley Thatcher. After two more goals by Erskine, Aly Estes would get the Crusaders back in a groove with an unassisted goal. With just over fifteen minutes remaining in the half, the Flying Fleet would score a free position goal to make the score 7-5, but from there the Crusaders would dominate the remainder of the half with two goals by Estes, two by Dani O'Meara, and one by Kellogg to make the score 12-5 at halftime.

NGU would play man-up for the entire second half as Erskine's Brittany Smith was disqualified from the game due to being shown two yellow cards. Erskine would score the first goal of the second half, but NGU would take over by scoring the final five goals of the game. Brenis Napoli would score two of them while Ashley Thatcher, Kaitlin O'Brien, and Kellogg scored the other three. The final thirteen minutes of the game would go scoreless, allowing the Crusaders to ultimately take an eleven point win.

North Greenville will face the Lees-McRae Bobcats on Tuesday, March 17th in Tigerville.
