Box Score 2 North Greenville split the day with the Pioneers of Tusculum College in Tusculum, Tennessee with a 6-5 win followed by a 13-1 loss. In game one, the Crusaders scored early and two insurance runs proved to be helpful as a rally by the Pioneers fell just short. NGU was limited to 3 hits in game two while allowing 13 hits. Brooklyn Stone and Carmen Silvester both had solid says with 3 hits each.
Game One - 6-5 NGU
Callie Richards took the mound, looking for her third win of the season. North Greenville would get on the board first in the top of the 2nd with a two-RBI single by Josie Reed and a throwing error that allowed Reed to later score. Brianna McRae would drive in NGU's third run in the top of the 3rd with an RBI single. After two scoreless innings, Tusculum was able to get on the board in the top of the 6th due to a wild pitch. North Greenville would collect two insurance runs in the top of the 7th when McRae doubled to left center to drive in both. The two insurance runs would prove to be vital as Tusculum would drive in four runs including a home run. However, Jaelin Griffin was able to close out the game with two outs to earn the save and seal the win. Richards was the winning pitcher.
Game Two - 13-1 TC
It seemed that NGU's momentum would continue after scoring a run in the top of the 1st by way of an RBI double by Carmen Silvester. However, this would go on to be North Greenville's final run of the day as the Crusaders would record just one hit and a hit by pitch after the opening inning. Tusculum would post nine runs in the bottom of the 2nd and four runs including two home runs in the 3rd. The Crusaders would go three up, three down in the final three innings. Bailey Pace, who started the game, was charged with the loss.
North Greenville will return to Tigerville on Friday, March 13th to begin conference play against the Bobcats of Lees-McRae.
