NGU Rallies Late to Beat Lander

Tigerville, SC - After falling behind early on, the Crusaders fought back to defeat the Bearcats of Lander University 6-4. The Crusaders trailed by three after the 1st inning but went on to score 6 of the final 7 runs to complete the comeback victory. Brady West had an impressive day, going 2 for 4 with a home run. Dawson Taylor, who pitched the 7th inning, recored the win.

In the top of the 1st, the Beacats would make some noise with an early three-run homer by Roury Glanton. North Greenville threatened in the bottom of the inning, but were unable to get on the scoreboard. After a scoreless 2nd inning, a sacrifice fly by Jordan Holladay and an RBI walk to Lex Tuten put NGU in the scoring column to make the score 3-2. In the top of the 5th, Lander added their fourth run of the game with an RBI double to left field by Evan Harold. The Crusaders would finally even things up in the bottom of the 6th with solo home runs by Brady West and Josh Senter, tying the game at 4-4. After Lander went three up, three down in the top of the 7th, West would drive in a run with an RBI single to right center to put the Crusaders up 5-4. An important insurance run would come around to score in the bottom of the 8th tanks to a bases loaded walk. Ryan Kirk, who entered the game in the top of the 8th, closed things out with a three up, three down inning to earn the save. Dawson Taylor recorded his first collegiate win.

North Greenville will face the Knights of Bellarmine University in the three game series, starting on Friday, February 7th in Tigerville.
