Crusaders Complete Sweep of Emmanuel

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders won both games of a Saturday doubleheader to complete the sweep of the Emmanuel College Lions at Ray & Bea Dillard Field. After a pitchers' dual that resulted in a 10 inning 2-1 victory by NGU, the Crusader bats sprang to life in the final game of the series to win 13-0. Gehrig Octavio and Josh Senter both recorded 4 hits for the day. Ryan Kirk and Logan Chapman were the winning pitchers.

Game 1 - 2-1 NGU

Christian Ryder took the mound to start game one. After two scoreless innings, Emmanuel would get on the board first in the 3rd with an RBI single. The Crusaders evened things up in the bottom of the 4th when Josh Senter hit a sacrifice fly to right field to score Aaron Adams. The score would remain tied in regulation, forcing extra innings. In the 10th inning, NGU would finally put an end to the game when Jordan Holladay was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, allowing Cory Bivins to score. Ryan Kirk was the winning pitcher.

Game 2 13-0 NGU

NGU would get the offense going early in the game, connecting for five runs in the bottom of the 1st including a two-run home run by Elvin Rosa, RBI singles by Michael Neustifter and Brady West, and a sacrifice fly by Aaron Adams. The Crusaders would add a 6th run in the bottom of the 2nd with an RBI single by Neustifter. After two scoreless innings, NGU would blow the game open in the bottom of the 5th with six runs including a two-run double by Josh Senter, and RBI singles by John Michael Faile, Lex Tuten, and Elvin Rosa. Senter would add one more run for North Greenville in the bottom of the 6th by scoring on a wild pitch. JK Love would pitch a shutout 9th inning to complete the shutout. Logan Chapman was credited with the win.

 

North Greenville will begin a road stretch on Wednesday, March 4th against the Bearcats of Lander University.
