NGU powers past Emmanuel for first league win

Tigerville – North Greenville held off a second half surge by Emmanuel to earn a 22-7 decision for the first league win of the season.

The Crusaders cruised to 12-2 lead after the first half, scoring 11 unanswered points over the final 27-minutes of the first period. Kaitlin O’Brien accounted for four of those first half goals and also dished out an assist in the big first half effort 

The NGU lead seemed safe before the Lions found a spark early in the second frame. The Lions scored five of the first six goals in the second half, trimming down NGU’s lead to just six, a 13-7 edge with 20:41 left in the game.

North Greenville regrouped and punched back. Rachel Kellogg sparked the North Greenville offense, winning four of 11 draw controls in the second half for the Crusaders. NGU countered with nine goals in the final minutes of the game including four from Olivia Foltz and a pair of scores by Kellogg 

North Greenville also got a pair of second half scores from Dani O’Meara who led the team with five goals on the day along with Olivia Foltz. O’Brien finished the game with four scores. McKenna Kees earned the win for North Greenville in the net, totaling six saves.
