Box Score Tigerville – North Greenville tallied its first win of the season on Wednesday with a 21-9 win over Lander.
North Greenville scored the first five goals of the game including with the help of an “own goal” by Lander to make it 5-0 six minutes in to the game. Brenis Napoli got the ball rolling with the first goal of the day less than a minute in to set the tone for a very fast paced first half. The Crusaders led 13-5 at intermission.
Rachel Kellogg shouldered the offensive weight in the first half, finding the net three times while adding an assist in that time. The Bearcats cut in to North Greenville’s five goal lead, making it 6-4 in the first but the Crusaders answered with three straight and seven of the last nine to extend the cushion to eight at halftime.
North Greenville controlled the second half action much like it did in the first half. Kellogg’s fourth score of the night and a second score by Ashley Thatcher made it 15-5 in favor of the Crusaders. Thatcher added one more goal in the win, giving her a single game career high with three.
NGU finished the night with 37-shots, 30 of which were on frame with four players scoring at least three times. Rachel Kellogg led the offensive charge with four goals while Jillian Chiesa and Kaitlin O’Brien joined Thatcher with three goals. Ellie Corder finished with a team high five saves while McKenna Kees had five as well.
The Crusaders head to Charlotte on February 26th to take on Queens University.
