North Greenville Suffers Loss to Barton

NGU ended their weekend with a 3-0 loss to the Bulldogs of Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina. North Greenville put together a competitive opening set, but fell behind and struggled to attack in sets two and three. Brandon Baker hit double digit kills with 10.

Barton began set one with the momentum to take a 12-7 lead. However, North Greenville responded with a 5-0 that included two kills by Ben Hamsho to tie the set. From there, the Bulldogs would reclaim the lead and a 10-4 run would make the score 22-16 in favor of Barton. NGU put up a fight late in the set with a small 4-2 run, but BC would end the set with a kill to take the opening set 25-20.

The Crusaders fought hard to begin set two, taking a very early 4-2 lead. Trailing 13-10, a 5-0 run by the Crusaders put them up 15-13. However, Barton would go on to dominate the remainder of the set, ending it on a 12-3 run to win it 25-18.

After an early 4-3 lead by NGU to begin the third set, BC put together yet another strong run to take a 14-8 lead. The two teams would exchange points for a big portion of the set, but a 7-2 run by Barton to end the set resulted in a 25-16 set win by Barton to put the match to rest.

North Greenville will try to get back on track on Tuesday, February 18th against the Belmont Abbey Crusaders in Tigerville.
