Tigerville, SC – The North Greenville Trailblazers rallied after dropping the opening set to defeat Barton in four sets with scores of 23-25, 25-18, 25-19, and 25-23 this evening at Hayes Gymnasium. With the win, the Trailblazers advanced to the Semifinals of the Conference Carolinas Tournament.
North Greenville found itself in an early battle, narrowly falling in the first set before responding with a strong offensive showing in the second to even the match. The Trailblazers continued to build momentum in the third set, hitting over .300 to take control. In the fourth, NGU held off a late push by Barton in a tightly contested set to secure the match victory.
North Greenville recorded 56 kills on an efficient .284 hitting percentage while adding 54 assists and 57 digs. The Trailblazers were especially effective at the net, totaling 22 block assists and limiting Barton's offensive efficiency throughout the match.
Yoriano Velez Vega led the offense with 22 kills on a .372 hitting percentage while adding 6 block assists. Thomas Roper provided a strong complementary performance with 14 kills and 12 digs, while Logan Keothavy contributed 8 kills and 13 digs. Landon Richter added 7 kills on a .308 hitting percentage along with 4 block assists, and Jacob Koch was highly efficient with 3 kills on a .500 hitting percentage and 6 block assists.
Andrew Copp provided 50 assists while also contributing 7 digs and a block assist.
NGU will face the Belmont Abbey Crusaders on Saturday, April 18th in Belmont, North Carolina in the semifinals of the Conference Carolinas Tournament.
