The North Greenville Trailblazers outlasted Truett McConnell in a five-set thriller this evening, earning a 3-2 victory with set scores of 25-15, 25-19, 22-25, 24-26, and 15-8.
North Greenville came out strong, controlling the first two sets to take a 2-0 lead. Truett McConnell responded by claiming the third set and narrowly edging NGU in the fourth to force a decisive fifth set. In the final frame, the Trailblazers delivered their most dominant performance of the match, hitting an impressive .769 to pull away for the 15-8 win and secure the victory.
As a team, North Greenville finished with 48 kills and a .252 hitting percentage while adding 47 assists, 41 digs, and 10 service aces. The Trailblazers were also strong at the net, totaling 18 block assists in the match.
JT McGuire led the offense with 13 kills, while Landon Richter added 11 kills on a .368 hitting percentage along with 6 block assists. Yoriano Velez Vega was highly efficient with 8 kills on a .667 hitting percentage and contributed 7 digs.
Andrew Copp directed the offense with 42 assists and also provided 5 aces to go along with 5 digs and 4 block assists.
North Greenville will wrap up the regular season on Saturday, April 11th against the Tornado of King University at Hayes Gymnasium.
