Box Score The North Greenville Crusaders clinched the Conference Carolinas regular season championship by salvaging the final game of the weekend series against the Trojans of Mount Olive with a 9-6 victory. After trailing 2-1, the Crusaders went on to score seven unanswered runs and was able to hang on to win. John Michael Faile collected three hits while Matthew Dailey earned the win.
Innings 1-3 (2-1 UMO)
Adam Sasser led off the scoring with a sacrifice fly to right center to put NGU on the board in the top of the 1st. With starter Ethan Garner on the mound, Mount Olive responded with a run by way of an RBI single through the left side. After a scoreless 2nd, the Trojans would take the lead in the 3rd due to a solo shot to right field by Gunner Tolston.
Innings 4-6 (6-2 NGU)
In the top of the 4th, a passed ball allowed Sasser to score a run to tie the game. Two more runs would come in to score in the top of the 5th thanks to a two RBI single through the right side. Not long after, a lengthy weather delay put the game on hold. The top of the 6th saw Utah Jones add two additional runs to the NGU lead with a single through the right side.
Innings 7-9 (9-6 NGU)
North Greenville extended the lead once againin the top of the 7th with a two run home run by Sasser. The Trojans would finally end their scoring drought in the bottom of the inning when a fielding error allowed a run to score. For the fifth consecutive inning, NGU scored an insurance run in the top of the 8th when Faile singled up the middle to drive in a run. Mount Olive didn't go down without a fight, scoring three runs off a two run homer and an RBI double, but that would not be enough as Kipp Rollings would record the final out to earn the save.
