Box Score The North Greenville Crusaders put on a show in Murfreesboro, North Carolina with a dominating 19-2 victory over the Hawks of Chowan University. NGU put up thirteen goals in the first half and six goals in the second half. With the win, the Crusaders now hold a 2-1 record in conference play. Rachel Kellogg led the charge with seven goals.
1st Half (13-1 NGU)
North Greenville was quick to get on the board, taking just two minutes to score with a goal by Hanna Hawkins. Rachel Kellogg would then take over by scoring four consecutive goals to give the Crusaders a 5-0 lead just ten minutes into the game. Jillian Chiesa and Aly Estes followed with goals to add the the NGU lead. Chowan would finally get on the board with fifteen minutes remaining in the half. Just over a minute later, Hawkins scored her second goal of the game followed by two straight goals by Kellogg. Brenis Napoli, Maegan Easler, and Kellog would score goals to close out the half with the Crusaders up 13-1.
2nd Half (19-2 NGU)
With the game in hand, NGU turned to defense to begin the half. The Hawks would be the first to score nearly three minutes into the half. Halfway through the half, North Greenville was able to get going offensively again with a goal by Chiesa. Easler and Sewell would follow up with goals to put the Crusaders up by fourteen. Hawkins then delivered with two straight goals and Amber Newland would close things out with her first goal of the season to give NGU a 19-2 victory.
Individual
Rachel Kellogg had quite a day, scoring 7 goals on 9 shots. She also recorded 5 draw controls, 3 ground balls, and 2 caused turnovers.
Hanna Hawkins also put together a solid performance with all 4 of her shots resulting in goals, plus 2 ground balls, an assist, and a draw control.
Sydney Taylor was strong at goalkeeper, recording 11 shots and just 2 goals allowed for a .846 save percentage.
