Gilbert Leads NGU to Sweep of Bluefield

North Greenville took care of business with a 3-0 victory over the Bluefield College Rams in Bluefield, Virginia. With the win, NGU is just one win away from tying the program high for wins in a season. Jackon Gilbert had an impressive match, posting 14 kills and 26 total attacks.

Set One (25-22 NGU)

Bluefield took an early 5-3 lead in the first set, but North Greenville would storm back with a 6-0 run to lead 9-5. The Rams were able to keep the set fairly close by going on three seperate 3-0 runs, but the Crusaders went on to take the opening set 25-22.

Set Two (25-22 NGU)

BC once again got off to a good start with a 6-2 run to begin the set. Down 10-5, North Greenville scored five conecutive points to tie the set at 10-10. From there, the points would go back and forth throughout the remainder of the set. However, NGU ended the set with four consecutive points to take it 25-22.

Set Three (25-17 NGU)

North Greenville began the set with the momentum, scoring four of the first six points. A 5-1 run by NGU made the score 10-5. Bluefield responded with a 3-1 run, but the Crusaders were able to then pull away for good by scoring six of the next eight points. With the Rams unable to put together another run, North Greenville would go on to win the set 25-17 for the match.

Individual

Jackson Gilbert had a productive day with 14 kills, 26 total attacks, 4 digs, 3 service aces, and a block assist.

Brandon Baker put together 8 kills and 18 total attacks. He also recorded 2 block assists and a dig.

Aaron Campbell also posted 8 kills while also recording 6 digs and a block assist.

Upcoming

The Crusaders will take Sunday off before returning to action on Monday, March 4th against the Coker Cobras in Tigerville.
