Box Score Salisbury, N.C. – Women’s lacrosse fell to Catawba on Wednesday night 12-9 in non-conference road action.
The Indians jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first quarter with back to back scores before Rachel Kellogg put the Crusaders on the board with a score at the 20:55 mark of the first half. After trading goals for the next few minutes, North Greenville was able to tie it later as Kellogg and Maegan Easler scored two in a row to pull even at 4-4.
The Indians would score the final three points of the half to make it 7-4 at the game’s intermission.
The Crusaders came out firing on all cylinders in the second period, scoring four unchallenged goals to take their first lead of the game. Easler’s second of the game equaled the board at 7-7 while a goal three minutes later from Jillian Chiesa made it 8-7 with an assist from Aly Estes.
The Indians were finally able to answer later in the second half as they went on a run of their own. Catawba scored the next four goals by four different players to take an 11-8 advantage. Chiesa would tack on one more score at the 4:25 mark but the Indians would tack in the final nail with a score at 3:22.
Game Highs
Chiesa led the Crusaders and tied the game-high with four goals on the night. She also had two caused turnovers.
Kellogg and Easler both had a pair of goals.
Christy Beaman led NGU with four grounders while Sydney Taylor finished the night with 14-saves.

The Crusaders will host the University of Tampa on Friday afternoon at 12 PM.
