Crusaders Use Home Court Momentum to Put Down Trojans

Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Crusaders scored a conference win on Friday night as they took down the Mount Olive Trojans. This win places NGU at 2-1 in conference play. Jackson Gilbert led the team with 19 kills and 4 service aces.

Set 1

Set one both teams came out swinging, trading points for most of the set. The Trojans found themselves in a position to take the set leading 24-22 late. North Greenville mounted a small comeback to force extra points. In the end the Trojans were able to take the set 29-27.

Set 2

Set two saw North Greenville jumping out early to a 4-2 lead. From their NGU would keep that lead going up by as much as 7 points before claiming set two, 25-19.

Set 3

Set three would see UMO coming out quick, building a 7-3 lead on the Crusaders. In the end that lead would be too much for the Crusaders to overcome, losing the set 25-17 and going down 2 sets to 1.

Set 4

Set four would be another back and forth affair with both teams trading leads early.  The Trojans would build a small lead before the Crusaders put together a 5-point run to take the lead and the set 25-19 to force a fifth set.

Set 5

The Crusaders would hold nothing back going into set five as they opened a quick 7-2 lead on the Trojans.  From there the Crusaders would ride the home court momentum to a 15-10 set win and a 3-2 match Victory.

Individual

Jackson Gilbert would lead the team with 19 kills and 4 service aces and boasting a .314 attack percentage.

Aaron Campbell ended the match with 14 kills on a .310 attack percentage and 7 digs.

Sergio Carrillo would bring a big boost from the Crusader bench racking up 20 assists.

The Crusaders will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 2nd in Tigerville as they take on Barton College at 3 p.m.
