Box Score The North Greenville Crusaders ended the regular season in dramatic fashion with a five set victory over the Southern Wesleyan Warriors in Central, South Carolina. Rachel Miller led the way with 13 kills and 40 total attacks. North Greenville ends the regular season with a 10-5 conference record, which places them second in the Conference Carolinas South Division standings.
Set 1
The Crusaders began the match ice cold, beginning the match with a 10-2 deficit. North Greenville fought back with a 7-3 run, but in the end SWU took the set without any issue 25-12.
Set 2
North Greenville came to life in the second set. The two teams were even early with 6-6 and 12-12 ties. Southern Wesleyan then went on a five-point run to lead 17-12. However, the Crusaders fought back with a 5-1 run to make the score 18-17 in favor of the Warriors. Down 22-19, North Greenville went on to dominate the end of the set with a 6-1 run and taking the set 25-23.
Set 3
The third set also began fairly even with the Crusaders leading early 7-5. SWU would then take nine of the next ten points to lead 14-8. The two teams would go back and forth with North Greenville fighting to get back in the set, but Southern Wesleyan would ultimately win the set 25-23.
Set 4
Set four proved to be a thriller with neither team leading by more than three points. North Greenville began to pull away with a 7-1 run to take a 12-9 lead, but SWU came storming back with a 7-1 run of their own to lead 16-13. Extra points would be required to decide the set. With NGU leading by one points, an attack error by the Warriors won the set for the Crusaders with a score of 30-28.
Set 5
Both teams would put together several runs in the fifth set, but NGU had the final one with six of the final eight points to win the set 15-13 and take the match.
Individual
Rachel Miller ended the regular season in style with 13 kills and 40 total attacks.
Katie McManaway had a strong match as well, recording 11 kills and 39 total attacks.
Emma Pepper also finished with 11 kills and also put up 22 total attacks.
