Crusaders Top Erskine In Five Set Thriller

Tigerville, SC - NGU rebounded from last night's defeat with a victory over the Erskine Flying Fleet in five sets to remain in third place among the Conference Carolinas South Division standings. Annie Beisecker led in kills with 17.

Set 1

NGU began the match strong with the first four points of the set. Erskine hung in there to keep the score respectable, but the Crusaders would never trail in the set, winning it 25-18.

Set 2

North Greenville led early in the set, but a 9-point run by Erskine would give them a 14-8 lead. Down 24-16, the Crusaders put up quite a fight by going on a 7-point run, but the Fleet were finally able to score the final point by way of a kill to take the set 25-23.

Set 3

Erskine would be the team to jump ahead early in the set, scoring eight of the first ten points. NGU kept the set respectable, but the issue was never in doubt for EC as they would win the set 25-21.

Set 4

Momentum swings were the story of set four as both teams would put together multiple small runs throughout. North Greenville finished on a 10-5 run to take the set 25-17 and force a fifth set.

Set 5

The Crusaders were able to jump ahead with an 8-4 run. Both teams would trade points before a block recorded the final point for NGU to seal the win.

Individual

Annie Beisecker led the charge for North Greenville with 17 kills and 34 total attacks.

Katie McManaway had another solid performance with 12 kills and 42 total attacks.

Rachel Miller recorded 12 kills at crucial points throughout the match.

Paige Beisecker was a perfect 6-6 in attacks that resulted in kills for a 1.000 attack percentage.
