Turnovers hurt NGU in loss to Mount Olive

Tigerville, S.C. -- North Greenville fell to 0-2 in Conference Carolinas play on Tuesday following a 13-6 loss to Mount Olive. 

The Mount Olive Trojans took control of the game by scoring the first 3 goals of the game. NGU’s Brenis Napoli would answer back with her only goal of the game. The Crusaders would score the last goal of the first half from Jillian Cheisa making the score 5-2 after another late score by the Trojans.

Madison Boudreau would lead off the second half by scoring within the first 3 minutes. Unfortunalty, Mount Olive’s offense overpowered the Crusaders defense and would respond to NGU’s challenge each time.

Goal Keeper Sydney Taylor fended off 15 of 34 shots. After a team high 2 goals from freshman Rachel Kellogg, Mount Olive would tack on 5 more scores. The last score of the game came from Hanna Hawkins but would be to little to late for NGU.

Monica Colwell would lead the team in ground balls but with 25 turnovers from NGU it proved to difference maker.

The Crusaders will hit the road this Saturday to face Shorter University with the game set to start at 2 p.m.
