Crusaders cruise past Emmanuel

Franklin Springs, GA—North Greenville’s offense poured on 25-shots on Emmanuel Keepers, Friday night, cashing in 18 of those attempts for an 18-5 win over the Lions to improve to 2-2 in Conference Carolinas play.

Emily Colson led the offensive charge with five goals while Rachel Kellogg added four. The Crusaders took control early in the game scoring 10 unanswered goals in the first 20-minutes. Colson got the day started with a goal at the 27:29 mark, one of her two first half scores.

Six other players got in on the scoring including Kellogg who led the team in first half scoring with three. The Lions finally broke through with 9-minutes left to cut North Greenville’s lead to nine goals. Kellogg’s third and Colson’s second of the half extended the lead to 11 while Sarah Smith second of the half gave North Greenville a 13-1 edge at halftime.

The Crusaders put the game away early on in the second half with three goals in the first 10-minutes. The Lions would put together a three-point run late in the game, but it was to late for Emmanuel as NGU led by 12 with 1:28 left in the game. Kellogg’s final goal of the day would be NGU’s 18th score of the day, leaving just 41-seconds on the clock.

North Greenville’s defense fueled the victory tonight, causing 22-turnovers. Madison Boudreau finished with a team high five while Sydney Taylor had four caused miscues and also finished the day with eight saves in the cage.

North Greenville will return to action on March 29th against Converse College at 6:30pm.
