HAWKINS' CAREER HIGH LEADS NGU TO NON-CONFERENCE WIN OVER CHOWAN

Tigerville, S.C. – North Greenville added another win to its record-breaking season on Saturday with 12-5 win over Chowan.

Hanna Hawkins led North Greenville as she scored half of NGU’s goals with six on the day. Hawkins scored on six of eight shots on the day and was one of two on free position shots. Emily Colson and Monica Colwell scored two goals each for the Crusaders while Taylor Hames and Natalie Dufresnescored once each.

Dufresne and Colwell led NGU with four ground balls each. Colwell also added seven caused turnovers. Sydney Taylor earned the win for NGU in goal, collecting 12-saves.

The Crusaders carried a 4-1 lead into halftime as Hawkins’ second goal of the first half put NGU up by three. Her goal with 14-seconds left in the half was an answer to a Chowan goal with 2:16 on the clock that trimmed North Greenville’s earlier lead to just two.

Chowan once again cut NGU’s lead to two goals when the Hawks opened the second period with a goal at the 25:49 mark. Hawkins once again answered for North Greenville with her third of the day to make the score 5-2. Colson followed up Hawkins with her second of the game to extend NGU’s lead to four goals.

A third Hawks’ goal cut NGU’s lead to 6-3 but the Crusaders would respond with four unanswered points to take a 10-3 advantage. The two teams would trade goals in the final three minutes of the contest as Hawkins added two more including one with just 57-seconds left to set a new career high.

NGU improved to 7-4 on the season after the win over the Hawks who dropped to 1-11.
