Central, S.C. —The North Greenville baseball team suffered
just its 7th loss of the season on Tuesday evening at the hands of
Southern Wesleyan. The Warriors outhit the Crusaders 13-3 in route to an 11-1
victory over the Crusaders.
Tuesday’s triumph over North Greenville was SWU’s 1st
win in 9 tries dating back to 2010. The Warriors dropped a 6 spot on NGU in the
2nd inning, scoring 6 runs on 7 hits.
The Warriors carried the 6-0 advantage into the 4th
when inning when the Crusaders cashed in their only run of the game, cutting
the lead to just 5. Markus Duckworth reached base on a bunt single to leadoff
the inning, and used some SWU miscues to circle the path and plate NGU’s lone
notch on the scoreboard.
Southern Wesleyan cashed in 4 more runs in the bottom of the
4th to take a 10-1 lead. The Warriors added a final run in the 5th.
Frank Polino, Derek Fulmer, and Markus Duckworth accounted for
1 hit a piece on Tuesday. Polino’s base knock was NGU’s only multiple base hit.
The Crusaders are now 16-7
on the season and 8-1 in conference play. The Crusaders will return home on
Wednesday for a matchup with the Trojans of Anderson University.
