The loss dropped North Greenville to 0-2 on the season, while Georgia Southwestern improved to 1-0-1.

Georgia Southwestern controlled much of the possession and scoring opportunities during the opening half, but North Greenville goalkeeper Cadie Pendergrass kept the Hurricanes off the board through the first 29 minutes. Zoie St. John scored off an assist from Anna Wheatley at the 29:57 mark to give the Hurricanes a 1-0 advantage. Pendergrass added another save less than a minute later as NGU went into halftime trailing by one.

Following consecutive corner kicks by the Hurricanes, Maci Dunlap found the back of the net in the 71st minute off an assist from Sydney Weslowski to extend the lead to 2-0.

Ana Maria Pinzon put a shot on target in the 73rd minute, but Georgia Southwestern goalkeeper Alana Beddow made the save to preserve the shutout. It was NGU's lone shot of the afternoon.

The Hurricanes put eight shots on goal and held a 7-1 advantage in corner kicks.
