The North Greenville Trailblazers fell to the USC Aiken Pacers 3-0 this evening in Aiken, South Carolina. USC Aiken scored once in the opening half before adding two goals in the 2nd half, dropping North Greenville to 0-3 on the season while the Pacers improved to 2-2.
USC Aiken struck early, taking the lead just 4:17 into the match. Reese Agnew scored off assists from Ruby Scott and Greta Ohlwein to put the Pacers ahead 1-0. North Greenville goalkeeper Angeline Montoya was tested throughout the opening half and made six saves as USC Aiken generated 16 shots. Despite the pressure, the Trailblazers kept the deficit at one going into halftime.
The Trailblazers recorded seven of their 10 total shots in the second half. USC Aiken, however, extended its advantage in the 53rd minute when Ohlwein scored off an assist from Gabriella Maddalena to make it 2-0.
Ohlwein struck again in the 82nd minute, scoring her second goal of the match as well as the season to give USC Aiken a 3-0 advantage.
North Greenville finished with 10 shots with four on goal. Finley Lloyd and Christabel Kirkham led the Trailblazers with two shots each. Isabella Gyurich, Natalie Tardie, Kirkham and Kendyll Donnellon each put up a shot on goal, while Ana Maria Pinzon, Valerie Hernandez and Allison Curlee also recorded shots.
Montoya played all 90 minutes in goal and finished with eight saves, facing 22 USC Aiken shots with 11 on goal. The Pacers held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks.
North Greenville will head to Belmont, North Carolina to face the Belmont Abbey Crusaders on Tuesday, September 8th.
