The North Greenville Trailblazers completed a sweep of the King Tornado with final scores of 3-2 and 14-9 in Bristol, Tennessee. NGU finished the day with a total of seventeen runs on twenty-six hits. Game one included NGU's seventh home run of the season, a solo shot by
Lexie Metcalf. After three scoreless innings, the Trailblazers would add to the lead with two runs in the 6th including an RBI triple by
Sydney Price and an RBI single by
Neely Hartin. King would put up a fight with a two-run home run, but
Haylee Whitesides would go on to secure the win an a complete game. Game two started on a solid note for NGU with two runs in the top of the 1st including a two-RBI double by
Lexie Metcalf. However, King would respond by scoring six runs in the bottom of the inning. A sacrifice fly by
Emily Blackwell cut into the deficit in the top of the 2nd, but King would once again pull away with three runs in the 2nd. After a scoreless 3rd inning, North Greenville would get the momentum on their side with four runs in the 4th including a bases-clearing triple by Metcalf and five runs in the 5th including a two-RBI double by
Haylee Whitesides. The Trailblazers added two insurance runs in the 6th with a two-RBI single by
Emily Blackwell.
Karley Green would pitch a scoreless 7th inning to secure the win. Green was the winning pitcher.
Lexie Metcalf hit a home run as well as 2 doubles, finishing with 6 RBIs and a run scored.
Sydney Price recorded 3 hits including a triple in addition to 2 runs scored and an RBI.
Karley Green pitched 6.1 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits and 3 walks while striking out 5.
NGU will take on the Valkyries of Converse University on Wednesday, March 11th in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
