The North Greenville Trailblazers nearly completed a comeback victory but ultimately fell to the Belmont Abbey Crusaders with a final score of 9-8 in Belmont, North Carolina. After
Caden Castle scored the opening goal of the game, Belmont Abbey took the lead for themselves by scoring the final three goals of the 1st quarter. A defensive 2nd quarter resulted in just one goal for each team as the two would go into halftime with a score of 4-2 in favor of Belmont Abbey. NGU took over the momentum by by scoring the first three goals of the 3rd quarter to take a 5-4 lead. However, BAC would score the final goal of the 3rd as well as the first goal of the 4th quarter to lead 6-5.
Jared Norris would score two goals for North Greenville to get back the lead 7-6, but the Crusaders once again responded with two straight goals to reclaim the lead with a score of 8-7.
Aydan Sizemore would even up the score with less than two minutes remaining, but Belmont Abbey would score what would go on to become the game-winning goal with less than two minutes remaining. North Greenville would post one last shot, but BAC would hang on for the narrow victory. North Greenville fell to 7-5 overall with a 3-1 record in conference play.
Caden Castle recorded 2 goals, 12 shots, and a ground ball.
Jared Norris posted 2 goals and an assist.
Aydan Sizemore also scored 2 goals.
North Greenville will return to action on Saturday, March 28th against the Trojans of the University of Mount Olive at Pepsi Stadium.
