North Greenville Holds Off Late Barton Surge to Earn League Win

Wilson, N.C. – A fast start in the first quarter on Friday helped propel North Greenville to a 12 – 11 win over the Barton Bulldogs. 
 
North Greenville never trailed on Friday and opened the game with four unanswered scores. Ryder Hamilton got things going for the Trailblazers while Aydan Sizemore scored around a minute later. Cole Jenkins and Steven Huls Jr. also got in on the action. One goal in the second and holding the Bulldogs to just three first half scores earned NGU a 6 – 3 lead at intermission. 
 
Both teams would score three goals in the third period as NGU was able to keep the Bulldogs at bay. Brady Saba got in on the scoring action while the Castle brothers both scored a goal to keep NGU in front. North Greenville started the final frame fast with three goals in a row. Connor Castle and Jared Norris both scored but Aydan Sizemore would score NGU's final goal with 7:52 left. A goal which proved to be pivotal. 
 
Barton was able to fire off five consecutive goals on North Greenville while holding the trailblazers scoreless. The Bulldogs pulled to within one of NGU with 56 seconds left with a chance to tie. Bennett Matsler was able to win the ensuing face off For the Trailblazers but NGU turned it over with 10 – seconds left. The bulldogs got off a final shot with one second on the clock but the shot sailed high as Matthew Desmond was able to deflect the final shot. 
 
Sizemore led the Trailblazers with three goals and an assist. Steven Huls Jr. finished with two goals. Matthew Desmond finished with 12 saves in net.
