Trailblazers Swept by USC Beaufort

Tigerville – North Greenville was on the wrong side of a non-conference double – header on Saturday falling to USC Beaufort 8 – 0 and 11 – 9.

The trailblazers struggled to get much going in the first game stringing together just five hits in the mercy rule shortened game. North Greenville left three runners in scoring position. The Sharks put together a pair of four – run innings in the second and fourth to force the early ending. They did their damage on eight hits.

Ansley Fowler led NGU going 2 – 2 with a walk. Three other players had one hit each. Haylee Whiteside was credited with her first loss of the season in the circle.

NGU looked to bounce back in game two with four runs in the first frame to break the scoreless drought. Whiteside collected an RBI with a double. Fowler and Maddie Stone also tacked on RBI's. A five run fourth inning put NGU back in from after the Sharks took an 8 – 4 advantage in the middle frames. Karley Green delivered the big blow with a two – run blast while Emily Blackwell and Jordan Slocum also delivered RBI.

It would be the Sharks however that finished the job with a solo run in each of the final three frames. They used a solo homer and a pair of sac flies to secure the victory in game two. The Trailblazers left three on base including two in scoring position in the final frames.

Emily Blackwell led NGU going 3 – 4 with two runs and an RBI. Green was 2 – 4 with a homer.
