Tigerville, SC - The North Greenville Trailblazers began the 2026 season with a sweep of the Anderson Trojans on a cold afternoon at Jan McDonald Field, with final scores of 10-2 and 5-4. AU began the afternoon with an RBI double in the 1st inning of game one. However, NGU responded in the bottom of the inning with a two-RBI single by Lexi Metcalf.
Karley Green would add a run in the bottom of the 2nd with an RBI double. After Anderson scored with an RBI double of their own in the top of the 3rd, NGU would put the game away with a six-run bottom of the 3rd including an RBI double to right center and an RBI single by Metcalf. North Greenville would go on to end the game early in the bottom of the 5th with an RBI by
Ansley Fowler to run rule the Trojans.
Haylee Whitesides pitched all 5.0 innings and earned the win. Game two would see NGU get off to an early lead with three runs in the 1st inning including RBI singles by
Ansley Fowler and Lexi Metcalf. Three innings later, the Trailblazers added to the lead with two runs including an RBI double by
Maddie Stone. Anderson put up a fight in the 5th inning with three runs and would score an additional run in the 7th. However, NGU would go on to record the final out to secure the one-run victory.
Owyen Lyall recorded the win while
Georgia Lieb earned the save.
Lexie Metcalf put together a solid afternoon, posting 5 hits including a double in addition to 4 RBIs and a run scored.
Haylee Whitesides made her Trailblazer debut with a complete 5.0 innings pitched, allowing just 2 runs on 3 hits and 4 walks while striking out 4.
Karley Green recorded 3 hits, 3 runs scored, and an RBI.
The Trailblazers will face the Sand Sharks of USC Beaufort on Saturday, February 7th at Jan McDonald Field.
