Tigerville –
Caden Castle etched his name in the North Greenville record book on Wednesday afternoon as he led North Greenville to a 17 – 7 win over the Mars Hill Lions in non-conference play at Pepsi Stadium.
North Greenville dominated from the opening face off. Castle got things going with his first of the game with 9:49 on the first quarter clock. The Trailblazers scored four more in the period to lead by three. NGU's defense held the Lions to just two goals in the second quarter as well.
The Trailblazers countered a seven spot in the second frame including five unanswered goals to take a commanding lead into halftime. Among the goal scorers in the third period were
Nick Meier who scored with 12:40 on the clock and
Cole Jenkins.
Carson Fuchs also scored for NGU. North Greenville was able to keep the Lions at arm's length for the rest of the game scoring five more goals in the second half while holding Mars Hill to just three over two quarters.
The story of Wednesday was senior attack
Caden Castle. Castle set a new school single game record for scoring with eight goals in less than three full quarters of play. He also had an assists and finished with nine-points.
Nick Meier finished with three goals while
Steven Huls Jr. finished with two goals and two assists. In the net
Matthew Desmond finished with four saves.
