NGU Continues Momentum with Sweep of Lees-McRae

Tigerville, SC – The North Greenville Trailblazers continued their momentum with a 3-0 sweep of the Bobcats of Lees-McRae College at Pepsi Stadium. NGU earned the victory with set scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 25-14, improving to 11-8 overall and 7-4 in conference play. Lees-McRae fell to 6-15 overall and 6-6 in conference play.

The Trailblazers established control in the opening set, recording 12 kills while taking advantage of 10 Lees-McRae attack errors. The Bobcats finished the frame with a negative .065 hitting percentage, while NGU hit .167 on their way to a 25-17 victory.

Lees-McRae provided a stronger challenge in the second set, recording 10 kills and improving its hitting percentage to .108. North Greenville answered with 11 kills of its own and maintained its advantage to claim the set 25-20.

The Trailblazers closed out the match with another strong defensive performance in the third set. NGU held Lees-McRae to six kills and a .000 hitting percentage while producing 12 kills of their own. North Greenville hit .171 in the final frame and pulled away for a convincing 25-14 victory.

Samantha Ball led North Greenville offensively with eight kills on 25 attempts, committing just two errors for a .240 hitting percentage. Ball also anchored the defensive effort with a match-high 17 digs and added a service ace. Elise Smith contributed seven kills while hitting .333, committing only two errors on 15 attacks. Reagan Funderburk and Lydia Northam each added six kills and hit .333.

NGU will return to action on Friday, October 9th to face the Trojans of the University of Mount Olive in Mount Olive, North Carolina.
