Gastonia, NC - The North Greenville Trailblazers were eliminated from the Conference Carolinas Tournament after falling to the Bulldogs of Barton College with a final score of 5-4. Starting pitcher
Brady Price throw 5.2 scoreless innings, but the bullpen would allow all five runs in the final 3.1 innings of the game. After a scoreless 1st inning,
Gideon Antle would put the Trailblazers on the board first with a solo home run. The score would remain the same until the 6th inning, where
Brett Blomquist drove in a run with a double to increase the NGU lead to two. Barton would get on the board in the top of the 7th with a sacrifice fly. They would then take the lead in the top of the 8th with a two-RBI double. A lightning delay would put a stop to the game for over an hour. The game resumed in the bottom of the 8th, where the Trailblazers put up two runs including an RBI single by
Gideon Antle and a sacrifice fly by
Payton Howard to lead by a run going into the 9th inning. However, the Bulldogs were able to reclaim the lead for themselves as a two-RBI single put Barton back up by a run.
Matthew Albritton began the bottom of the 9th by drawing a walk. After two fly outs,
Bryce Roddey would hit a single to center field, but pinch runner Ben Renfrow would be tagged out while trying to reach third base to end the game.
Gideon Antle went two for three at the plate including a home run and also recorded two RBIs and a run scored.
Brett Blomquist posted two hits including a double as well as a run scored, an RBI, and a walk.
Bryce Roddey finished with two hits and a run scored.
North Greenville will return to action in the NCAA Baseball Southeast Regional with a location to be determined.
